While many Saskatoon residents are anxiously awaiting the snowfall that comes along with Saskatchewan winters, the city’s annual Snow Show highlighted the more enjoyable parts of the season. “Winter is the number one thing. And just to really enjoy that time, I know during the cold weather, temperatures, maybe they just want to stay indoors, but we really want them to recreate outside,” said show manager Jennifer Schneider. Prairieland Park was filled with snowmobiles, ATVs, winter gear, snacks and many other options for folks to get excited about the snow. Saskatoon’s annual Snow Show returned to Prairieland Park over the weekend. Schneider said the event is a good reminder of all the fun that can come along with time outside in the snow. “It just gets everyone super excited to really enjoy the winter outside. Even in the cold temperatures ... it’s just a really good kickoff to winter, and we’re certainly happy to have everyone come visit the show,” Schneider said. The weekend also featured a number of safety presentations to remind folks about the responsibilities that come along with winter recreation. Avalanche Canada shared some insight for folks travelling to the mountains this winter, and Operation Lifesaver provided some training for those in attendance. “Our number one messaging with the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association (SSA) is safety. So of course we have our safety instructors that teach classes throughout the province, throughout the entire winter, as well as online,” Schneider said. Schneider added that the SSA website has a number of resources for those looking to brush up on a variety of safety training. She also said the SSA is already working on next year’s show. “We’re happy to have this show every single year and welcome everyone back for next year. It’ll be the weekend of Nov. 6, 7 and 8, 2026,” Schneider said.
