In a jam-packed summer featuring entertainment options like the Saskatoon EX and Fringe Festival, the Bridge City is also set to play host to what’s being called the largest travelling spectacle in Canada and the United States. A cast of acrobats, jugglers, aerialists, dancers and clowns converge on Saskatoon starting July 31, when the Cirque Italia Water Circus gets underway in the big tent at SaskTel Centre. Cirque Italia, which bills itself as a “strictly animal-free show,” invites adventure-seekers to “go on a fantastical, globe-spanning adventure, grab your compass and telescope and set sail with the Water Circus.” The circus features an international cast of artists, including performers from Argentina, Brazil and Romania. “Join a daring team of explorers who sail between worlds, diving deep beneath the waves and soaring high into the clouds,” Cirque Italia added in a news release. Saskatoon will host the circus July 31 to Aug. 10, with a total of 16 shows taking place.
