Saskatchewan RCMP say five people are facing more than 60 charges after a large-scale drug trafficking investigation in Yorkton and surrounding communities. The Yorkton Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT), with help from multiple RCMP units, executed search warrants on April 24, 2026 at four homes in Yorkton, Bredenbury, Bangor and the Rural Municipality (RM) of Orkney. During the searches, police say they seized a wide range of illicit drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, psilocybin, LSD, DMT, opioid pills, illicit cannabis, and pharmaceutical-style Xanax, as well as thousands of illicit cigarettes. Officers also seized multiple weapons and items including a loaded handgun, a suppressor, ammunition, brass knuckles, bear spray, a baton, a crossbow, and five vehicles along with cash. Three men, aged 45, 25, and 24 years old, along and two women, aged 51 and 29, were arrested and appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on April 27. RCMP say the investigation remains ongoing. The service credited coordinated, intelligence-led policing for the success of the operation. “Ten different types of illicit substances were removed from Saskatchewan communities during this investigation,” Yorkton STRT unit commander Sgt. Greg Smith said in the announcement. “Multiple arrests were made simultaneously, within minutes of one another, and more than 60 charges have been laid.” Smith added the case is an example of illegal drugs and weapons not being limited to larger urban centres.
