The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency plans to test the province’s emergency alert system Wednesday afternoon. The test is scheduled to take place at 1:55 p.m. and will appear on televisions, radios and compatible cell phones. Residents with compatible cell phones should expect to hear an alert noise when the test is conducted. Officials say testing the alert system is part of standard procedure each year to ensure immediate warnings can be communicated to the public. Each province and territory has a specific test time on Wednesday with the exception of Quebec, which does not participate in the AlertReady system, Canada’s emergency public alert program. -With files from The Canadian Press
