TeleMiracle through the years

This Saturday, those across Saskatchewan will ring those phones once more as TeleMiracle celebrates its 50th year.

The annual 20-hour telethon was first held in 1977. Since then, the event has raised more than $171 million for the Kinsmen Foundation. Last year’s event raised $5,709,306.

Donations go towards those in Saskatchewan who need special needs equipment to maintain or improve their quality of life – while also benefitting other institutions and health foundations to improve health care.

TeleMiracle 50 will be held at Saskatoon’s Prairieland Park and will feature a live audience. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Saturday.

In celebration of the 50th year, the telethon will be extended by two hours. The program will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday until Sunday at 5 p.m., for a total of 22 hours.
