Sturgis woman wins $900,000 Vault Breaker jackpot

Heather Jaeb of Sturgis won $900,144.91 playing Vault Breaker at Preeceville’s Golden West Hotel

A Sturgis woman is nearly $1 million richer after winning a Vault Breaker jackpot through Saskatchewan’s VLT program.

Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) says Heather Jaeb won $900,144.91 playing Vault Breaker at the Golden West Hotel in Preeceville on Dec. 16.

Jaeb said she was stunned when she realized she’d won the province-wide grand jackpot.

“I was shocked,” she said with a laugh. “I was so surprised that I won.”

Jaeb said the winnings will help ease financial pressures for her family.

“I’m going to pay some bills and buy another horse — maybe even build a big barn — and then save the rest for the kids,” she said. “We definitely won’t be living paycheque to paycheque anymore.”

Vault Breaker is a wide-area progressive VLT game linking more than 4,200 machines at over 560 sites in nearly 270 Saskatchewan communities. The game features three mystery jackpot tiers, including a province-wide grand jackpot with a minimum value of $500,000 that must be awarded before reaching $1.5 million.

Since June 2017 the province-wide Vault Breaker jackpot has awarded more than $58.7 million to 59 winners. Following Jaeb’s win the grand jackpot has reset to $500,000.
