Unit Four at SaskPower’s Boundary Dam power plant is now back in full operation. It had not been used for the past two years with major repairs needed for the boiler and other components. That work has now been completed at a cost of $7.6 million dollars. “Real credit to the team at SaskPower who have put an enormous amount of work, over 50,000 person hours, zero loss time accidents – but $7.6 million to bring 150 megawatts of power back online,” Minister Responsible for SaskPower Jeremy Harrison told CTV News. It will be used as a stand-by unit during periods of peak electrical demand. The repairs will keep the unit operating until the coal fired power plant undergoes complete refurbishment over the next decade.
