The Saskatchewan Roughriders made what they’re calling a ‘futures pick’ on Tuesday night by selecting Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Kurtis Rourke in the 3rd round (25th overall) in the 2025 CFL Draft. Riders General Manager Jeremy O’Day acknowledged that he may never play for the team, or in the CFL, but the pick was worth the risk. “When we looked at the potential of having him on your team and what he would bring, and the success his brother has had in our league, and the fact that we can never have too many good quarterbacks so we thought we should take a shot at him,” said O’Day. Rourke threw for 29 touchdowns and five interceptions in his only season with the Hoosiers in NCAA Division 1. The Oakville native transferred to Indiana from Ohio for his final college season and led the Big Ten school to an impressive 11-2 record. Indiana fell 27-17 to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the inaugural 12-team college football playoff. Rourke was taken in the seventh round, 227th overall of the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.
