Province opens new home for adults with intellectual disabilities

WATCH: Creative Options Regina and the provincial government have opened a new home for adults with intellectual disabilities.

The Government of Saskatchewan and Creative Options Regina have officially opened a new home for adults with intellectual disabilities in the Queen City.

The four-space home in Regina was established following a $1.2 million capital investment from the province. The home, which is operated by Creative Options Regina, will receive $429,000 in annual operational funding from the ministry of social services.

“This home marks another step toward a future where belonging is the standard, not the exception,” Creative Options Regina CEO Michael Lavis said in a news release on Tuesday. “We are deeply grateful for the Government of Saskatchewan’s support and partnership. Together, we are not just building a home, but a stronger and more inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to participate, grow, and thrive.”

Creative options Regina is classified as a for-impact, charitable organization that provides supportive living and community-based programs aimed at empowering those with disabilities to live in their own homes, discover their talents and build meaningful relationships.

As part of the ministry’s $1.61 billion 2025-26 budget, the province allocated an additional $9.7 million for new services – meant to support adults with intellectual disabilities attending day programs and living in group homes.
