The chair of the Business Cares Food Drive (BCFD) is making one final push before the 2025 campaign wraps up Friday. “What lies ahead of us is four to five days of outreach,” said Wayne Dunn, chair of the BCFD, while standing among the massive amounts of gaylords in their warehouse. “A lot of people have already given, and we thank them for that but what I’m asking for today is for people who want to give, we’ll gladly accept it, but only if you can.” Volunteers sprawled out across 45 stores in the city last month over two days. “Our actual food count is wonderful,” said Dunn. “We had two days, and quite honestly, we would have been down a little bit had we not added five new stores this year. Those five gave us about one percent over where we were last year. We notice giving across the board is maybe a little lighter, but other people are picking up, and that’s what we need the final push for.” Dunn said they have no official goal, but it would be nice to equal the 2024 total. “From what we received grocery weekend, we’re in good shape,” he added. “What happens, though, is the campaign shifts more to cheque and cash giving. I won’t really know (a total) until Friday at our morning of magic.” Food and cash or cheque donations may be dropped off at the J-AAR Expo Western Fair Agriplex Business Cares Headquarters or call 519-661-9803 to arrange donation pick-ups. Donations may also be made online. The Business Cares Food Drive supports the London Food Bank and the more than 35 Social Agencies operating 90 various food programs in our area.
