The province has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the first phase of construction for the Swift Current Comprehensive High School Project. The project, which is being delivered using a construction manager model, will go forward in multiple phases, the province said in a news release on Friday. The completion of the first phase of design marked an important step forward, with the province now entering the procurement stage. The RFP invites contractors and trade workers to submit bids to the construction manager. According to the posting on SaskTenders, the project involves rehabilitation of mechanical and electrical systems throughout the facility, including replacing outdated infrastructure such as interior lighting and converting the air conditioning system to a modern one. The project will also involve upgrading safety systems, including fire alarm systems. “This milestone reflects progress in renewing and modernizing critical school infrastructure,” SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Sean Wilson said in the update. “Advancing to tender ensures this project is well prepared to move forward efficiently while minimizing disruption to students and staff.” The project is a partnership with the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement, the Ministry of Education and Chinook School Division. It was approved in March of 2024 as a phased renovation project. The RFP will close on Sept. 3.
