1:50 p.m. - The advisories for many regions across the province are lifted. A yellow advisory remains in place for the area surrounding Regina, including Highway 1 towards Moosomin. Those commuting Monday were warned of “near-zero” visibility due to heavy fog across Saskatchewan. The fog advisory, issued at 8:10 a.m., covered large tracks of southern and central Saskatchewan including Swift Current, Regina, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Yorkton and Nipawin. The province’s southwest corner, including Maple Creek and Shaunavon in addition to much of the northwest, including Saskatoon, Prince Albert and North Battleford, fell outside the advisory zone. According to Environment Canada, light winds combined with saturated conditions under a ridge of high pressure is leading to widespread dense fog extending from west Saskatchewan to central Manitoba. The weather service noted travel may become hazardous in certain areas due to visibility being suddenly reduced at times. Visibility is expected to improve as the morning progresses.
