A Moose Jaw man is facing several charges after 100,000 illegal cigarettes were seized during a recent traffic stop. Saskatchewan RCMP say the incident happened Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, on Highway 16. Around 3 p.m., the roving traffic unit stopped a van for a driver’s licence check. During the stop, officers found and seized 10 cases of illegal cigarettes — containing 100,000 cigarettes in total, according to a Tuesday RCMP news release. As a result, a 47-year-old man from Moose Jaw has been charged with possession of tobacco products for the purpose of selling, possessing unstamped tobacco and possessing unstamped tobacco that is not black stock tobacco. He’s set to appear in court in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Jan. 11, 2027. The matter is still being investigated by RCMP.
