The Saskatchewan RCMP Roving Traffic Unit (RTU) located and seized 20 kilograms of illegal drugs during a traffic stop on October 23, 2025, while patrolling Highway 7, west of Kindersley. As a result of the initial investigation, the RTU officer detained the driver on scene for the purpose of a drug investigation. PSD “Salt”, a police service dog, was deployed and during the inspection indicated her detection of the odor of narcotics in the passenger side of the trunk. RTU then searched the vehicle and located four kilograms inside a corner of a hidden after-market compartment. The vehicle was then transported to the Kindersley RCMP detachment where RTU officers were able to finish opening the after-market compartment which contained an additional 15 kilograms of suspected cocaine and one kilogram of suspected crystal methamphetamine. Two cellphones and $830 in Canadian currency found on the driver was also seized. As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old man from Vancouver, B.C. is charged with four offences including possession and trafficking of a substance included in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Kindersley on December 16, 2025. He was released on a Justice of the Peace Release Order.
