Two, including 5-year-old boy, dead in Quinte West crash

Ontario Provincial Police say a driver and a child died after a crash on Old Highway 2 in Quinte West on Tuesday.

Police say officers responded to the crash that involved a car and a pickup truck at around 3:35 p.m. on the highway near CFB Trenton.

The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man from Stirling, was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. A five-year-old boy from the Quinte area in the vehicle also died from his injuries.

The driver of the pickup, a 33-year-old from Belleville, was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Old Highway 2 between RCAF Road and Whites Road was closed for about six hours and reopened overnight.

An investigation continues.
