Woman treated for injuries after vehicle left road, landed on its side in Ottawa’s east end

An elderly woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after her vehicle drove off the road, hit a culvert and landed on its side in Ottawa’s southeast end.

Emergency crews responded to a call for a single-vehicle crash on Mitch Owens Road, near Yorks Corners Road, just before 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The Ottawa Fire Services says the vehicle drove off the road, hit a culvert and landed on its side.

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle when firefighters arrived on the scene.

“Firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle before beginning the extrication process. A hose line was advanced as a precaution,” Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson Nick DeFazio said. “The driver was safely extricated on a back board through the rear hatch out of the vehicle.”

An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson told CTV News Ottawa the woman was transported to hospital in stable condition.
