Impaired driving charges laid after woman dies in rollover near Richmond

Ottawa police have laid impaired driving charges against a 25-year-old man after a fatal vehicle rollover near Richmond.

Emergency responders were called to a section of Garvin Road between Shea and Huntley roads at around 3:40 p.m. Friday.

Police said in a news release Saturday that a pick-up truck left the roadway with two occupants inside.

The passenger, a woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver sustained minor injuries.

The man has been charged with impaired operation causing death and dangerous driving causing death, according to police.

An investigation is ongoing.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam or surveillance footage of this incident, but has not yet spoken to police.
