Two people will be displaced after a car fire tore through two other vehicles and spread to a nearby apartment unit in Westboro. The Ottawa Fire Services say multiple 911 callers reported multiple vehicles on fire in the 300 block of Whitby Avenue shortly before 2:25 p.m. According to Public Information Officer Nick DeFazio, the fire started from a vehicle in a parking lot on the exterior of a multi-residential building. Firefighters quickly battled the flames and were able to have the fire under control in about 20 minutes. A total of three vehicles and one apartment unit were damaged. Despite the fast growth of the flames, DeFazio says firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to other units. Fans were brought in to ventilate residual smoke from the building. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
