Ottawa Coun. Tim Tierney is now the president of the national organization that represents municipalities across Canada. Tierney was elected president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities during the annual conference this weekend in Edmonton. “Canada is at a turning point. I’m honoured to represent municipalities from coast to coast to coast as we roll up our sleeves to deliver results,” Tierney said in a statement from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. “Together, we will tackle infrastructure gaps, build more housing, address homelessness and strengthen Canada’s future.” Tierney, who was first elected councillor in Ottawa in 2010, previously served as first vice-president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. Tierney is the first Ottawa councillor to be president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities in 80 years.
