OC Transpo says regular service has resumed on the O-Train Line 1 after repairs to the system’s overhead wires were completed. Service on the east-end of the line was disrupted after damage to the overhead wire was discovered Thursday morning following a stopped train at Cyrville station. “Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) has successfully completed repairs to the damaged components of the OCS and conducted final inspections,” Rami El Faghali, acting general manager of transit services department, said in a statement. “For customers, this means that all Line 1 stations and platforms from St-Laurent to Blair are now open.” OC Transpo shut down service between St. Laurent and Blair stations after 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday to allow crews to repair the damage overnight. OC Transpo was also running single track service on the eastern portion of the track during the day on Friday, and the R1 replacement bus was running between Hurdman and Blair stations. While OC Transpo had hoped the damage could be repaired by Friday morning, the continued through the day and night. “Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) has started repairs to components of the overhead catenary system (OCS) between St-Laurent and Cyrville stations,” Rick Leary, Transit Services general manager, said in a memo to council Friday morning. “However, additional components were found to be damaged, and more time is required to safely complete this work.” Leary said work to repair the overhead catenary system between St. Laurent and Cyrville stations would continue following the afternoon peak period on Friday. “Once the work is done, the OCS will be inspected before service resumes at all platforms,” Leary said. “It’s anticipated that service at all stations will be restored on Saturday.
