Quebec man charged with assaulting police after Ontario crash

Ontario Provincial Police say a 42-year-old Quebec man is facing several charges after allegedly crashing into police cruisers earlier this week on Highway 401 in Ontario.

According to police, officers from Leeds County OPP were called to assist the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP after a driver in a blue sedan failed to stop on Wednesday.

The suspect was found on Highway 401 and, while attempting to stop him, police allege he drove into two police vehicles. No one was hurt.

The 42-year-old man from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. is facing four counts of assaulting police with a weapon, and additional charges of obstructing police, fleeing police, dangerous driving, impaired driving, mischief, and possession of a Schedule I substance.

Police allege during the arrest, officers found approximately 10 grams of suspected methamphetamines.

The man is due in court on Tuesday in Brockville.
