Ottawa police seize loaded guns from bar during after-hours inspection

The Ottawa Police Service says two handguns were seized and one person was arrested following an after-hours bar inspection early Sunday morning.

Police say they conducted a liquor licence check at an establishment in the 100 block of Besserer Street near the Rideau Centre at approximately 3 a.m.

The inspection was conducted because of ongoing non-compliance by the bar concerning after-hours operations and liquor sales, police say.

One person was arrested and charged with multiple firearms offences. Two loaded handguns were located inside the bar and seized.

The Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit continues to investigate.
