Ottawa paramedics say a woman was taken to the hospital after crashing her car through a fence outside a local school. Paramedics were called to Knoxdale Public School on Greenbank Road at around 3 p.m. Thursday for the crash. Ottawa paramedic spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps told CTV News Ottawa that the senior experienced a possible medical emergency behind the wheel prior to the crash. She was taken to the hospital in stable condition. No one else was reported hurt. Knoxdale-Merivale Coun. Sean Devine said on social media it appears the driver lost control of the vehicle after leaving the parking lot of the Shoppers Drug Mart across the street. “Some parents have written to ask about the daycare, but the daycare is on the other side of the school. There were no kids present when this happened,” he said. The crash happened just weeks before students return to classes. CTV News Ottawa has reached out to the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board for additional details.
