Ontario Provincial Police say a 50-year-old man is facing several charges, including second-degree murder, in connection with a homicide in Augusta Township in eastern Ontario. A 79-year-old woman was found dead inside a home on County Road 26 on July 8. On Wednesday, police identified the victim as Donna Lowry of Augusta Township. Police ruled her death a homicide and on Sept. 15 announced the arrest of one person, who was charged with indignity to a dead body. On Wednesday, police said David Collison, 50, of Augusta Township, was arrested on Tuesday and is charged with second-degree murder, indignity to a dead body, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm, and possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order. “We are grateful that we can provide answers to Donna’s family and hold people accountable for their involvement in her death,” said OPP Det. Insp. Jocelyn Sauve in a news release. “These arrests reflect the dedication and persistence of the investigative team, whose tireless efforts helped to bring the investigation to a successful conclusion. We would also like to thank the public and media for their patience and continued support.” The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
