Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges against a driver following a head-on crash last December that killed a child. A pick-up truck collided head-on with an OPP cruiser on Highway 7, between Drummond School Road and Drummond Concession 7, on Dec. 13, 2025. Three people in the truck were injured, including a 10-year-old who died in hospital the following day. The OPP officer in the cruiser was also injured. In a news release on Friday, OPP said a 40-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, and impaired driving causing death. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Perth in August. Police say anyone with information or potentially relevant dashcam video, who has not yet spoken with officers, should call the Lanark County Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 and refer to incident E251673466.
