The Ottawa Police Service has charged a 22-year-old man in connection with the city’s third homicide of 2026. Police say a shooting took place just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Bankfield Road and Prince of Wales Drive. The victim has been identified as Majed Al-Ar, 19, of Ottawa. On Thursday afternoon, police said Hussein Kaddoura, 22, of Ottawa, was charged with manslaughter, kidnapping, and possession of a restricted firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court later in the day. A second man was treated at the scene Wednesday afternoon and taken to hospital in stable condition, according to Ottawa paramedics. Police said he was arrested in connection with the homicide, but has since been released, pending further investigation. Police say there is no known risk to public safety.
