The Ottawa Senators will have to weather a hurricane in the first round of the NHL playoffs.

The Senators will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the playoffs, with games 1 and 2 to be played in Raleigh, North Carolina. Games 3, 4 and 6 will be played at the Canadian Tire Centre.

The puck drops on the series at 3 p.m. Saturday, the NHL has confirmed.

Here is what you need to know about the Senators playoffs.

The matchup

The Senators will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the NHL playoffs.

The Hurricanes are the top team in the Eastern Conference this season, with 53 wins and 113 points.

The Senators will enter the playoffs as the second wild card team in the Eastern Conference.

The NHL says Game 1 will take place Saturday in Raleigh, North Carolina, with the puck drop at 3 p.m. ET.

Game 2: Monday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C.

Game 3: Thursday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Ottawa

Game 4: Saturday, April 25 at 3:30 p.m. in Ottawa

Game 5: Monday, April 27, TBD, in Raleigh, N.C.

Game 6: Thursday, April 30, TBD, in Ottawa

Head-to-head

The Hurricanes beat the Senators in two of three games this season.

• On Jan. 24, the Hurricanes beat the Senators 4-1 at Canadian Tire Centre. Tim Stutzle scored the lone goal for the Senators.
• On February 3, the Hurricanes beat Ottawa 4-3 in Raleigh. Jordan Stall scored the winning goal with 5 minutes left in the third period.
• The Senators beat the Hurricanes 6-3 on April 5. Captain Brady Tkachuk scored twice for the Senators.

Playoff tickets

Tickets for games 3 and 4 at Canadian Tire Centre will go on sale Thursday and Friday.

The Senators announced tickets for season seat members will go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m.

On Friday at 10 a.m., Sens Insiders will be emailed a link to access tickets for Game 3 and Game 4. You can purchase up to four tickets per game.

Tickets for the general public will go on sale on Friday at 12 p.m. The Senators say there will be a limit of four tickets per game available to buyers.

Sens Mile

The City of Ottawa will officially open Sens Mile along Elgin Street on Friday.

Mayor Mark Sutcliffe said the city will raise the Senators flag at Ottawa City Hall on Friday and the Sens Mile signs will be installed.

“It’s a terrific atmosphere,” Sutcliffe said.

Elgin Street is a popular spot for Senators fans to gather and watch games.

Flying to Raleigh

Senators fans have several options to fly to Raleigh for the first-round playoff series.

The Air Canada website shows fans can fly to Raleigh with connections through Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. Montreal-Trudeau International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.

If you don’t mind driving. Breeze Airways operates direct flights from the Ogdensburg International Airport in Ogdensburg, New York to Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Flights from Ogdensburg to Raleigh are scheduled for Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with flights from Raleigh to Ogdensburg on Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Ogdensburg International Airport is located 100 km from downtown Ottawa.

Driving to Raleigh

According to Google maps, Ottawa to Raleigh is a 1,300 km drive.

The drive will take just over 13 hours, according to the website.
