Gatineau, Que. police arrest 3 in illegal cannabis crackdown

Police in Gatineau, Que. say three people were arrested and a significant amount of illegal cannabis was seized following several searches in February.

Houses and apartment buildings on rue d’Angers, rue de la Cité-Jardin, rue Laval, and rue Pergame in Gatineau were searched on Feb. 25, police said in a news release on Friday. Three men between the ages of 36 and 40 were arrested and will be facing charges under the Cannabis Act.

As a result of the searches, police seized more than $33,000 in cash, six kilograms of hashish, more than 10 kilograms of cannabis, 1,439 THC gummies, unstamped cigarettes, several documents, cell phones, some brass knuckles, a retractable baton and a car.

The accused were released on a promise to appear in court.

• 13 unstamped packs of cigarettes;
• 96 unstamped cartons of cigarettes.
