G2 driver attempting to race officer on Ottawa highway charged with stunt driving, OPP says

A G2 driver is facing a charge of stunt driving after attempting to race a police officer on Highway 417 in Ottawa, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Police say the incident happened shortly before 12 p.m. Thursday on the Queensway near Carling Avenue.

“Ottawa OPP charged this G2 driver with stunt driving after they attempted to race the officer, not recognizing it was a police cruiser,” OPP Const. Michael Fathi said on X.

Fathi said the driver was charged with stunt driving for racing a motor vehicle.

The driver received an immediately 30-day driving suspension, and the vehicle is impounded for 14 days.

“They now face a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points, and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction,” Fathi said.
