Driver fined $780 after excavator falls off transport truck on Hwy. 417

A transport truck driver is facing more than $700 in fines after an excavator fell off the back of the truck onto Highway 417 in Ottawa’s west end.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call for an excavator blocking two westbound lanes on Highway 417 at Moodie Drive Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the driver of the transport truck received two tickets – driving a commercial vehicle with a major defect in it or in drawn vehicle and having an insecure load.

Each ticket is $390.

Ottawa paramedics said they did not respond to a call for this incident.
