Police in western Quebec say a driver has died following a collision east of Montebello on Friday. Officers with the Sûreté du Québec were called to a single-vehicle crash on route 148 in Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours at around 10 a.m. Police said the eastbound vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole on the opposite shoulder. The individual was transported to hospital and pronounced dead. Speed is not believed to be a factor in the crash, police said. All other hypotheses are being analysed. Police closed a section of route 148 in both directions between Côte du Front and chemin du Traversier for several hours for the investigation.
