Cold start to the day, with warmer temperatures on the way in Ottawa

You will need to dig out the winter coat, gloves and hat for the trek to work and school today, before temperatures warm up this afternoon.

The temperature was -8 C at 6 a.m., with the wind chill making it feel like -12.

Environment Canada says the temperature will warm up to 7 C today and 13 C on Thursday, with double-digit temperatures expected this weekend.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 10 C and a low of 0 C.

It will be mainly sunny today. High 7 C.

Clear conditions are expected tonight. Low -3 C.

Thursday will start sunny, with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon and a 60 per cent chance of showers. High 13 C.

Friday will be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of rain or snow. High 4 C.

The outlook for Saturday calls for sunshine. High 10 C.

Sunday will have a mix of sun and cloud. High 12 C.
