CHEO Foundation’s 50/50 lottery returns with weekly prizes

CHEO Foundation President & CEO Steve Read tells us about this year's CHEO 50/50 draw and how you can win while supporting the little ones at CHEO!

The CHEO 50/50 lottery is back on, giving participants a chance to win big while also supporting the children’s hospital.

“This is a really big fundraiser for us, and a big part of how we support the hospital,” Steve Read, president and CEO of the CHEO Foundation, told CTV Your Morning Ottawa on Thursday.

This year’s lottery will feature a minimum grand prize of $500,000, but Read hopes the total will be much higher.

“Last year we were just under a million dollars, and so we’re hoping we can crack that million-dollar mark for the winner,” Read said.

This year’s lottery will also feature weekly bonus draws worth $10,000.

“We’ll do a draw on Thursday and give out $10,000 each week, as the campaign progresses right to the beginning of April,” Read said.

“Double chances to win. If you happen to be a winner on the weekly prize, you’re still entered to win.”

Proceeds from the lottery will support the Kids These Days campaign, which Read says is a “commitment to CHEO to help them build and expand and grow.”

“Every penny stays here,” Read said. “We know that we need to grow. Our population’s growing. Our catchment area’s growing. The services that we are offering is growing, and so we need to grow, and expand and modernize, and this is what’s going to help us do that.”

Tickets can be purchased online at CHEO5050.ca in the following quantities:

• 10 tickets for $25.
• 30 tickets for $50.
• 100 tickets for $100.
• 200 tickets for $175.
• 325 tickets for $250.

Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday to be entered into the weekly bonus draws on Thursday.

the deadline to purchase tickets is Thursday, April 9 and the grand prize draw will take place on Thursday, April 16.
