Transport EnRoute Consortium says buses will be running Tuesday

Students in school districts from Timmins to Moosonee will have bus service for the start of the school year.

The Transport EnRoute Consortium confirmed that service for students in four school boards in the Timmins area will be in effect for the first day of school on Sept. 1.

“The agreements have now been finalized. The Transport EnRoute Consortium is continuing its work with operators to complete operational preparations, including the validation of buses, drivers and routes,” the consortium said in a letter to parents posted to social media Friday.

School boards include:

• Conseil Scolaire Catholique des Grandes Rivieres
• Conseil Scolaire Public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario
• District School Board Ontario North East
• Northeastern Catholic District School Board

The consortium said in order to access a child’s records on BusPlanner Web Portal, parents will need:

• the child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN),
• their grade level and
• their date of birth.

The consortium said an OEN is assigned to each student when they first enrol in an Ontario school and can be found on their report card.

“Kindergarten students may not yet have an OEN at the start of the school year,” said Transport EnRoute in the letter.

“In this case, your child’s school will be able to provide their transportation information.”

Transport EnRoute said some schedules or route information may still be adjusted and parents are advised to check transportation information again before Sept. 1.
