Timmins police investigate morning weapons call

The Timmins Police Service is investigating a reported weapons call that occurred in the area of Dwyer Avenue on Sunday morning.

Police received reports of a possible gunshot being heard in the area at about 7:20 a.m. Officers attended the scene and initiated an investigation.

“As part of this response, officers conducted a search of a residence in the area to ensure there were no injured persons inside,” said Michelle St. Louis, the police service’s communications coordinator, in an email to CTV News.

“At this time, there are no reported injuries.”

The police service said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

St. Louis added that further information will be provided as it becomes available and “when appropriate to do so.”

Timmins police also thanked the public for their cooperation and understanding in a subsequent social media post.
