Two women and a man have been charged in connection with a violent home invasion last month near Matheson, located east of Timmins.

The trio was arrested April 23 by members of the South Porcupine crime unit, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release April 24.

Police “executed two search warrants and arrested three persons following an investigation pertaining to a home invasion,” the release said.

Home invasion March 4

The incident took place March 4 at a residence east of Matheson.

“It was determined that it was an isolated incident and there was no threat to public safety,” police said.

A man and a woman, both aged 42 and from Timmins, are charged with mischief under $5,000, robbery with violence, armed robbery, assault and other related charges.

A 34-year-old woman from Matheson is charged with the same offences, as well as drug trafficking.

All three suspects are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on June 25.
