A threat made toward Englehart High School prompted an increased police presence in the area of 4th Street and 6th Avenue in Englehart, Ont., on Tuesday afternoon, according to the District School Board Ontario North East. Andréanne Denis, a communications manager with the board, confirmed in an email to CTV News that “the threat” was reported to Englehart High School‘s office at about 12:30 p.m. “All students and staff were evacuated as a precaution,” said Denis. The school contacted the Ontario Provincial Police to investigate. The board said staff and students were able to return to the school shortly after 2 p.m. On social media, the OPP had advised the public of an increased police presence in the area as part of an active investigation shortly before 1:30 p.m. In a subsequent update, at 2:40 p.m., provincial police said officers had cleared the scene. “There is no threat to public safety,” the said police. OPP did not released any further details about the nature of the investigation or its results. Public was asked to avoid area “Please avoid the area to allow officers to carry out their duties safely,” said OPP in its initial social media post.
