A shooting on Dwyer Avenue in Timmins, Ont., early Saturday morning has sent one person to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say. The Timmins Police Service said that officers responded to a report of a gunshot inside a residence at approximately 12:15 am on March 14. “Police and emergency medical services responded to the call and located one victim inside the residence with a gunshot wound,” police said in a news release. The victim was transported to Timmins and District Hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Police seek assistance “The suspect fled from the scene,” police confirmed. The criminal investigation division has been engaged in the case, and Timmins police have sought assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police’s canine and forensic identification units. Investigation in early stages “The investigation is in its early stages,” said Det. Sgt. Kathryn Beatty in the release. “Police are requesting assistance from the public.” Investigators are specifically asking anyone in the area of Dwyer Avenue between Boundary Lane and Grant Street in Schumacher who has home surveillance or dash cam footage for the time between 11 p.m. on March 13 and 2 a.m. on March 14 to contact police or upload the video online here.
