The fast-growing paddle sport and cross between ping-pong and tennis is getting some some love in a Simcoe County community. Lovers of the game of pickleball will be able to play on brand new courts in Adjala-Tosorontio. They will be located at Dekker Street Park and Haley Park in the Dekker Street Park in Everett. The new courts are expected to be unveiled next Tuesday at 10 a.m. and residents are invited join the celebration. The Township says the new courts will help to expand opportunities for recreation, fitness and community connection, as the sport continues to grow in popularity across all age brackets. “Pickleball has quickly become one of the fastest-growing sports in Canada, and we are thrilled to bring this exciting recreational opportunity to our community,” said Adjala-Tosorontio Mayor Scott W. Anderson. “These new courts provide a welcoming and accessible place for residents to stay active, meet new people, and enjoy time outdoors. This project demonstrates council’s commitment to enhancing recreational facilities and investing in spaces that improve quality of life for our residents.” According to the officials, the new courts are part of the Township’s focus on recreational infrastructure and creating modern and accessible amenities that help support future growth of the municipality.
