A 59-year-old woman who was injured in a collision with a vehicle Jan. 22 on Algonquin Road has died. Greater Sudbury police said she passed away in hospital on Jan. 29. “Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends,” police said in a news release Friday. The investigation is continuing, police added. It happened around 7:10 p.m. when a vehicle hit a pedestrian on Algonquin. Police said the driver contacted police and stayed at the scene to try and help the woman. “Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the pedestrian was crossing Algonquin Road when she was struck by the black SUV traveling towards Regent Street,” police said in the original news release. She was taken to Health Sciences North by ambulance, where she ultimately died of her injuries.
