Sudbury police seize guns, $158K in illicit drugs and cash

Sudbury police arrested a 55-year-old man in Estaire after a raid on Elbow Lake Rd. uncovered $8,000 in cocaine, $150,000 cash and three loaded firearms.

An investigation into illegal guns in Greater Sudbury ended with weapons and drug trafficking charges for a 55-year-old man from Estaire.

The investigation began Jan. 10 after police received information that the accused had multiple weapons. Police obtained a search warrant for a residence on Elbow Lake Road in Estaire.

“Members of patrol operations executed the search warrant and located a handgun, a revolver and a rifle, as well as 83.9 grams of what is believed to be cocaine, drug trafficking items and approximately $150,000 in cash,” police said.

The estimated value of the drugs is $8,390.

Charges include numerous weapons-related offences, drug trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.

The suspect was in bail court Monday.
