Sudbury man faces child exploitation charges

Greater Sudbury police say a 34-year-old man has been charged following an investigation by its Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

A search of the man’s residence was carried out on March 11.

Electronic devices seized and analyzed

Police said that several electronic devices were seized during the search.

“Devices were analyzed by the Computer Forensic Unit for child sexual abuse and exploitation material,” the Greater Sudbury Police Service said in a news release on June 4.

Charges laid in May

The man was charged on May 19 with possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material and making child sexual abuse and exploitation material available.

He appeared in a Sudbury bail court on the same day to answer to the charges.

Police said tips from the public can help protect children from sexual abuse and the public is encouraged to report concerns to Cybertip.ca if someone they know may be victimizing children online.
