Splash N Go Adventure Parks, a Sudbury-owned inflatable water park, is finalizing a deal with the City of North Bay to bring the water obstacle course to the Lake Nipissing waterfront. For a little more than a week, Splash N Go has been teasing that North Bay will be its newest location. On Tuesday, the company confirmed it will operate at Shabogesic Beach on Memorial Drive. “We’re very excited. North Bay has always been a target on our radar. We’ve been working on launching our base since we launched in Sudbury,” water park co-founder Mike Lafreniere said Tuesday afternoon. “It’s been a little bit more a little more challenging getting that in place.” The water park layout includes a floating obstacle course where children can climb structures, go down slides and try to balance on the inflatable structure. Kids must be at least age five and will be provided life-jackets. Waivers will be required and the cost is $25 per jumper. There’s no official date for the North Bay launch, but Lafreniere promised it will be before the end of summer. “We hope kids will come and get out, have fun and enjoy the weather,” he said. “Enjoy the summer. Enjoy northern Ontario.” Splash N Go currently operates in Sudbury, Gore Bay and Sherkston Shores. The company is currently hiring two lifeguards, a site crew team member and one customer service representative. “We are definitely always looking to expand and bring this to the more northern communities and even southern communities, as well,” Lafreniere said. In a statement to CTV News, the municipality said Splash N Go Adventure Parks was selected to operate its new inflatable water park “following the city’s request for proposal process.” “The new attraction will provide another recreation option for residents and visitors to enjoy the waterfront this summer,” spokesman Gord Young said in an email. Young said inflatable installation is expected to begin soon, with details on the opening date and hours of operation to be announced by the company. Tourism North Bay executive director Tanya Bedard said the water park will elevate the city’s “vibrant tourism scene, seamlessly blending with existing activities, events and festivals in the downtown and waterfront core.” “It’s an exciting addition that promises to enhance the visitor experience and showcases the natural beauty of our city,” Bedard said.
