There were several reports on social media Thursday of fighter jets flying overhead in Sudbury and – it turns out it was the famous Canadian Snowbirds. “We’re on the move!” said a post from the Snowbirds social media account Sept. 10. “Our team is now transiting to Timmins ahead of our upcoming non-aerobatic show in Kapuskasing Saturday.” Along the way, the jets may have been spotted in Innisfil, Orillia, Parry Sound and Sudbury. Fuel stop in Sudbury “As always, all overflights are weather and fuel dependent,” the post said. “Our fuel stop today will be in Sudbury before our arrival in Timmins.” The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, are a Canadian icon made up of members of the Canadian Armed Forces and employees of the Public Service of National Defence. The Snowbirds will perform an aerial demonstration as part of the annual Kapuskasing Colour Run on Sept. 12 at Riverside Park. “This year’s event will be even more memorable with a special Canadian Forces Snowbirds non-aerobatic aerial demonstration taking place before the Colour Run,” said a post advertising the event, which begins at noon.
