A 34-year-old local man is facing charges after provincial police stopped a side-by-side in Serpent River First Nation last weekend. Ontario Provincial Police were conducting the RIDE check at the intersection of Village Road and Walkhouse Bay Road when a green side-by-side entered the checkpoint at about 1 p.m. on Aug. 22. “During the investigation, officers determined the driver was operating the vehicle while prohibited from doing so,” OPP said in a news release. Charged, towed and impounded As a result, the man was charged with operating a vehicle while prohibited. In addition to the charge, the side-by-side was towed from the scene and impounded for 45 days. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake on Nov. 8.
