A North Bay author has returned home with some impressive hardware after an awards ceremony in Arizona in July. Laura Frost picked up two honours at the International Impact Book Awards for her book, Seeking Sasha. Mystery-thriller earns dual recognition Frost received the award for the mystery-thriller category at a gala event in Phoenix. She also won the Literary Titan Award, which came with a certificate delivered by mail. The author said the recognition came through a submission process in which she and her publisher put her name forward. “They contacted us and said, yes, we love your book and want to recognize you with these awards,” she told CTV News. Judges weighed character and pacing Frost, who is also a wildlife biologist, said the judges evaluated entries against a specific set of criteria. “It was a combination of character work, engaging plot, good pacing and overall, an engaging read,” she said. Frost expressed her excitement at receiving validation from multiple organizations. “I was thrilled that a couple of different places, organizations, saw that in my work. Now I can let people know, the world knows about my awards,” she said. Family shares in the celebration Frost said her family and friends are thrilled that she won two awards for her hard work. “My husband joined me for the gala ceremony in Phoenix, and we had a great time. My three kids are pumped and spreading the word to their friends. My extended family and my friends are so happy for me.” Sequel already in the works Despite the recent accolades, Frost said she is not resting on her laurels and is already busy writing a sequel to Seeking Sasha. “It is still in the editorial stage,” she said. “But I am working on it and readers keep contacting me, asking me to get it finished so they can get it in their hands.” Frost added that while the new book is coming, she does not have a release date for it yet.
