The body of a missing pilot who took off into Kawartha Lakes on his small, homemade plane has been found, according to Ontario police. After a lengthy search, crews say they found the plane submerged in Wolf Lake and confirmed the pilot was deceased. Police first reported a missing plane followed by a missing 73-year-old man, identified by his family as David Douglas, who was piloting the aircraft. The plane and pilot were reported missing after he took off from Oshawa Executive Airport on the weekend and headed north to Kawartha Lakes and never returned. Authorities say plane debris was found on Sunday in Wolf Lake, but the pilot was still missing. A number of search and rescue agencies and police departments took part in the extensive search. Police say investigators are coordinating an extraction plan. The OPP says the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is taking over the investigation on the circumstances surrounding the crash. The TSB is the independent federal agency responsible for advancing transportation safety through the investigation of aviation occurrences.
