Sault woman accused of kicking officer, faces charges

A 35-year-old woman faces charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer in the Sault last week.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said officers responded to a 911 report of an unwanted person at a business in the 100 block of Queen Street East at about 7:50 a.m. on May 13.

“The accused yelled at and kicked an officer,” police said in a news release.

As a result of the incident, the woman was arrested and charged with assaulting a peace officer, failing to leave premises when directed, and causing noise in a public place under local bylaws.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on July 7.
