A 39-year-old man from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with making threats against a victim in a series of online posts last month. “On July 24, Sault police received information that the accused posted threats toward a victim on an online platform,” police said in an Aug. 14 news release. “An investigation revealed the accused attended a location frequented by the victim to intimidate them and used public platforms to share threatening materials directed at the victim.” The victim and the accused “are not well known to each other,” police said. A warrant was obtained for the accused’s arrest, which was executed Aug. 13 when officers spotted him walking on Pilgrim Street. Charges include intimidating a justice system participant, breach of recognizance, indecent communications and uttering death threats. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
