Province to spend more than $6M on health care at the Timmins hospital

The hospital in Timmins has received two separate funding allotments totalling $6 million that were unveiled by Timmins MPP George Pirie.

In an attempt to reduce wait times and improve operations, the province says it’s spending more than $4 million at the Timmins and District Hospital.

“This $4.2 million investment will improve hospital operations and help connect more people in our community to the care they need, faster. This funding will help ensure our hospital has what it needs to continue serving the people of Timmins, ” said MPP for Timmins George Pirie in a news release July 2.

Pirie also announced more than $1.9 million for upgrades and repairs at the hospital to support infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and repairs.

“This investment will enable Timmins and District Hospital to address priority infrastructure needs so patients and their families can continue to access vital services and care in their community,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health.
